Hawara: The Plan
The book is about how the plan was made.
It opens at an arrest. From there, a man tells it back: from 1984, when he was eleven, to the last day of August 1995. The turn, the men, the room, the car, the day. And it ends at that same arrest.
What happened in the months between is not told here. That belongs to the next book.
Like Eleven Feet, it is a novel built from the record: the 1,022-page trial court judgment of 2007, the High Court judgment of 2010, and the man's own words. The novel's job is not to repeat any one side's account. It is to know every account exactly.
